Eastwood continued its impressive start to the 2026 season Friday night, pulling away from Canutillo for a convincing 49β17 victory at Trooper Stadium. The Week 2 matchup featured an explosive opening from Canutillo before the defending district champions settled in and took control.
Canutillo landed the first big blow when Elijah Martinez intercepted Eastwood quarterback Kingston Jeffries and returned it 90 yards for a touchdown. Eastwood quickly answered, however, with Jeffries connecting with Adrian Lopez for a touchdown before Matthew Martinez broke loose for a 90-yard touchdown run, giving the Troopers the lead.
Eastwood's offense continued to find its rhythm, with Jeffries and Lopez connecting for another score as the Troopers steadily extended their advantage. Eastwood ultimately finished with 617 total yards, including a dominant rushing performance from Matthew Ramirez, who accounted for 300 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
The victory moved Eastwood to 2β0 on the season, while Canutillo fell to 1β1. For Canutillo, the game also marked another chapter in a special season as longtime head coach Scott Brooks enters his final year on the sideline.
