PANTHERS PITCH A SHUTOUT: AUSTIN BLANKS CLINT 28-0

Austin continued its impressive start to the 2026 season Friday night, shutting out the Clint Lions 28-0 on September 25 to move to 5-0 on the season. The Panthers' defense delivered another commanding performance while the offense capitalized on its opportunities. It was Austin's fifth consecutive victory to open the season, and the Panthers have now scored at least 27 points in every game. FLORES FINDS THE END ZONE — FOUR TIMES The offensive star of the night was Roberto Flores, who turned limited opportunities into a huge scoring performance. Flores carried the football just 10 times but totaled 104 rushing yards and scored all four of Austin's touchdowns, establishing a new season high for rushing touchdowns. The Panthers didn't need an enormous amount of offensive production to control the game. Austin finished with 216 rushing yards, 21 passing yards and 237 total yards, according to the game's recorded statistics. That balance between an efficient offense and an aggressive defense has been a major part of Austin's undefeated start. DEFENSE CLOSES THE DOOR While Flores supplied the points, Austin's defense made sure Clint never had a chance to answer. The Panthers recorded four sacks, with Jonathan Villalobos and Gabino Chavez combining to account for all four. The pressure kept Clint's offense from establishing any consistent rhythm. The shutout was Austin's first of the season and continued a stretch in which the Panthers have steadily separated themselves from opponents. Austin opened the year with wins over El Paso, Jefferson, Bowie and Irvin before completing the five-game run against Clint. FIVE STRAIGHT At 5-0, Austin enters the final week before district play with plenty of momentum. The Panthers have already demonstrated they can win in different ways — from the 49-7 offensive explosion against Bowie to the narrow 22-20 victory over Irvin and now a defensive shutout against Clint. For Clint, the loss dropped the Lions to 1-4 on the season. WHAT'S NEXT Austin will hit the road Friday, October 2, to take on the Mountain View Lobos at 7 p.m. Clint will host Riverside the same night. With district play approaching, Austin has accomplished exactly what every team wants through five weeks: Five games. Five wins. One undefeated record. And the Panthers are heading into district play with their defense pitching a shutout and their offense continuing to put points on the board.
