Kylen Green rushes for 163 yards and four touchdowns as Franklin opens District 1-6A play with a dominant Pink Out victory

On a night dedicated to Pink Out, the Franklin Cougars delivered a performance that was anything but soft.
Franklin broke open a scoreless game late in the first half and never looked back, rolling past the Socorro Bulldogs, 37-13, Friday night at Franklin High School Stadium in the District 1-6A opener for both teams. The victory gives Franklin back-to-back wins and moves the Cougars to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in district play. Blue Water Healthy Living
And once Franklin found its rhythm, the Cougars went to work.
π₯ GREEN LIGHT
Sophomore Kylen Green was the difference-maker.
Green ran for 163 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 7.8 yards per carry, giving the Cougars a punishing presence on the ground. It marked Green's fourth consecutive game with at least 120 rushing yards.
Four touchdowns.
One sophomore.
One very big district statement.
Green's production helped Franklin erupt for 503 total yards, its highest total since piling up 738 yards against Eastlake on Oct. 24 of last season.
π COUGARS FLIP THE SCRIPT
For much of the first half, neither team could break through.
Then Franklin changed everything.
The Cougars scored two touchdowns during the final 2:20 of the first half, turning a scoreless contest into a 14-0 Franklin advantage at the break. From there, Franklin's offense continued to build on the lead. Blue Water Healthy Living
Quarterback Robert Torres was highly efficient through the air, throwing for 193 yards while completing 86.4% of his passes. MaxPreps
Franklin wasn't simply winning β it was controlling the line of scrimmage and keeping Socorro from establishing the type of offensive rhythm needed to stay within striking distance.
πΆ SOCORRO FIGHTS BACK
The Bulldogs didn't go quietly.
Isaac Anaya gave Socorro some offensive life, throwing for 234 yards and a touchdown, while adding 36 rushing yards and another score.
But Franklin's defense continued to keep the Bulldogs from matching the Cougars' scoring pace.
Socorro falls to 2-3 overall after the loss.
π₯ FRANKLIN'S SEASON HAS CHANGED
There's a different feel around the Cougars now.
Franklin opened the season 0-3, taking losses against Midland Legacy, Chapin and Andress. But the Cougars have responded with consecutive victories β first a 62-13 demolition of Parkland, followed by Friday night's 37-13 district-opening win over Socorro. MaxPreps
That's 99 points in two games.
And more importantly, Franklin is 1-0 in District 1-6A.
The Cougars' reward?
Another district test.
Franklin travels to Montwood on October 9 for a 6:30 p.m. matchup.
After starting 0-3, Franklin has officially found its stride.
And Friday night, under the Pink Out lights, the Cougars made sure everyone noticed.
