The El Dorado Aztecs took another major step toward a third consecutive district championship Thursday night, defeating the Bel Air Highlanders 53–43 in a high-scoring District 1-5A Division I showdown at Bel Air High School.
In a game filled with offensive firepower, El Dorado never trailed, according to the El Paso Times. The Aztecs answered Bel Air’s scoring efforts throughout the night, producing another important district victory while keeping their championship ambitions firmly in sight.
AZTECS KEEP THE PRESSURE ON
El Dorado entered Thursday’s matchup coming off a 50–46 victory over Americas, and the Aztecs continued their winning ways against a Bel Air team that had been gaining momentum.
Quarterback Brycen Booth was a key figure for El Dorado’s offense, helping lead a unit that once again demonstrated its ability to put points on the board. The Aztecs have consistently shown they can attack through the air and on the ground, making them a difficult opponent to contain over four quarters.
The 53-point performance was another example of El Dorado’s offensive production in a district race where every victory carries significant weight.
HIGHLANDERS FIGHT UNTIL THE END
Bel Air showed plenty of fight, scoring 43 points against one of the district’s top contenders. The Highlanders’ offensive performance kept the game competitive, but El Dorado found enough answers to maintain its advantage and leave with the victory.
Although Bel Air came up short, the 43-point effort highlighted the team’s ability to generate offense against a formidable opponent. The Highlanders will look to turn that production into a win when they return to action next week.
DISTRICT TITLE IN SIGHT
The win improved El Dorado to 5–2 overall and 3–0 in district play, while Bel Air fell to 4–4 overall and 2–1 in district competition.
According to the El Paso Times, El Dorado has not lost a district game in nearly three years and is pursuing its third consecutive District 1-5A Division I title. The Aztecs are positioned to take another major step toward that goal with their upcoming matchup against Hanks on Friday, October 30.
Bel Air will host Americas that same evening, looking to bounce back and remain in the district race.
For El Dorado, Thursday’s victory was about more than surviving a shootout. It was another statement of consistency, resilience and championship ambition.
