EASTWOOD ERUPTS: TROOPERS ROLL PAST AMERICAS 64-13

By PREP1 Sports | September 18, 2026 The weather may have pushed the game back, but it didn't cool down the Eastwood Troopers. After Thursday night's lightning forced the matchup to be postponed, Eastwood returned to SAC 2 on Friday afternoon and delivered a statement performance, rolling past the Americas Trail Blazers 64-13. The victory moved Eastwood to 3-1, while Americas dropped to 1-3. The matchup had originally been scheduled for Thursday night, but lightning across El Paso halted play. The game was eventually moved to noon Friday, giving both teams a very different setting for a Week 4 showdown. And once the game resumed, Eastwood wasted little time taking control. TROOPERS COME OUT FIRING Eastwood jumped on the scoreboard early and never surrendered control. The Troopers put 27 points on the board in the opening quarter, followed by another 14 in the second. Eastwood added 24 more in the third quarter before finishing the afternoon with a 64-point offensive explosion. The performance was particularly impressive considering Eastwood entered the game coming off a difficult trip to Utah, where the Troopers fell to Corner Canyon 52-7. Before that setback, Eastwood had opened the season with consecutive victories over Bel Air, 65-13, and Canutillo, 49-17. Friday's performance put the Troopers right back on track. A BIG DAY FOR THE EASTWOOD OFFENSE Eastwood entered the matchup averaging 334 rushing yards and 230 passing yards per game, according to MaxPreps' pregame matchup statistics. Junior running back Matthew Ramirez had been the Troopers' leading rusher, averaging 177.3 yards per game entering the contest, while quarterback Kingston Jeffries had been averaging 182 passing yards per game. Wide receiver Jordan Nava was averaging 59.7 receiving yards per game. Those numbers provided a glimpse of the offensive firepower Eastwood brought into SAC 2. The Troopers' 64-point performance also continued a remarkable scoring trend: Eastwood has now surpassed 49 points in three of its first four games. AMERICAS FACES A TOUGH AFTERNOON For the Trail Blazers, Friday's result came after a promising Week 3 victory over Montwood. Americas entered the game 1-2 after defeating Montwood 35-21 on Sept. 11. Senior running back Maurice Edwards had been one of the Borderland's most productive offensive players, entering the week with 808 rushing yards and 13 total touchdowns. But Eastwood's defense and explosive offense changed the script quickly. The Troopers held Americas to 13 points while scoring 64 of their own, turning what had been a highly anticipated matchup into a decisive Eastwood victory. NEXT STOP: DISTRICT PLAY Eastwood improves to 3-1 with the win and now prepares for its next challenge against Eastlake on Sept. 25. Americas falls to 1-3 and will look to regroup against Del Valle on Sept. 24. For Eastwood, the response after the Corner Canyon loss was immediate — and emphatic.
