CHAPIN HUSKIES DOMINATE BURGES MUSTANGS IN 35–3 DISTRICT VICTORY
PREP1 NETWORK | HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL | 📸 Photo Credit: Juan Fragoso @itz_.ju4n The Chapin Huskies delivered a commanding performance Friday night, defeating the Burges Mustangs 35–3 on October 16, 2026, at Irvin High School. A dominant defensive effort helped Chapin control the matchup and earn another important victory in El Paso high school football. The Huskies made life difficult for Burges throughout the night, forcing mistakes in the passing game and consistently pressuring the quarterback. Chapin recorded three interceptions and five sacks, turning its defensive pressure into one of the defining stories of the game. DEFENSE SETS THE TONE Chapin’s defense was relentless, with three Huskies recording interceptions: Juel Delgado, Leaf DeWitt and Terrance Hall each came away with a pick. Delgado delivered a standout performance up front as well, recording three sacks to lead the Huskies’ pass rush. Chapin finished with five sacks overall, repeatedly disrupting Burges’ attempts to move the football through the air. The combination of takeaways and quarterback pressure limited the Mustangs to just a field goal. It was a complete defensive showing that gave Chapin control and kept Burges from building any offensive momentum. HUSKIES BUILD MOMENTUM The 35–3 result marked Chapin’s second consecutive victory and moved the Huskies to 3–3 on the season, according to MaxPreps. The team’s recent success has been fueled by improved defensive results, allowing only three combined points across its last two wins. For Burges, the loss dropped the Mustangs to 2–5, extending a difficult stretch in which they had lost five of their previous six games. Chapin will look to carry its momentum into its next matchup against Canutillo on Friday, October 23. Burges is scheduled to face Del Valle that same evening as the Mustangs work to get back on track. Friday’s win showcased the impact a disruptive defense can have on a football game. Three interceptions, five sacks and a performance that held Burges to three points gave Chapin a decisive advantage and helped the Huskies continue building momentum as the season progresses.
