AUSTIN PANTHERS ROAR: AUSTIN ROLLS PAST BOWIE 49-7

By PREP1 Sports | September 11, 2026 Austin continued its unbeaten start to the 2026 season Friday night, putting together a dominant 49-7 victory over the Bowie Bears in an El Paso non-district matchup. The Panthers entered the night with plenty of momentum and left with an even stronger résumé, improving to 3-0 while Bowie fell to 0-3. Austin has now opened the season with three straight victories, while the Bears are still searching for their first win. Austin's offense was led by quarterback Mason Ruybe, who completed 7 of 14 passes for 206 yards and five touchdowns without an interception. Running back R. Flores added 106 rushing yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, giving the Panthers another major weapon on the ground. Wide receiver/running back J. Castaneda also found the end zone, finishing with 64 receiving yards and a touchdown. The Panthers' production was reflected in the final team numbers. Austin finished with 209 passing yards, 208 receiving yards and 258 rushing yards, according to MaxPreps' game statistics. For Bowie, Friday marked another difficult chapter in a young season. The Bears opened the year with losses to Jefferson and Hanks before facing Austin, dropping to 0-3 after three games. But the season is far from over. Bowie will have an opportunity to regroup quickly when the Bears return home to face Riverside on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 6:30 p.m. Riverside enters that matchup at 2-1 after a dramatic 44-43 victory over Chapin. Austin, meanwhile, takes its perfect record on the road Thursday night against Irvin, which enters at 2-1 following a 23-19 victory over Jefferson. Three weeks into the season, the Panthers have established themselves as one of the Borderland's unbeaten teams.
