ANDRESS RALLIES FROM 14-0 DEFICIT TO DEFEAT CHAPIN 38-21

The Huskies jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead against unbeaten Andress. But the Eagles responded with the kind of comeback that has become a defining part of their remarkable start to the 2026 season. Andress scored the final 38 points of the night, rallying for a 38-21 victory over Chapin Friday at Andress High School. The win kept the Eagles perfect at 4-0, while Chapin fell to 1-3. FROM 14 DOWN TO 17 UP Chapin came out swinging. The Huskies built a 14-0 advantage in the opening quarter, putting Andress in an unfamiliar position after the Eagles had already survived a pair of high-scoring games to open the season. But Andress didn't panic. The Eagles steadily flipped the momentum and eventually took control, turning a 14-point deficit into a 17-point victory. The 38-21 final also represented Andress' largest margin of victory of the season. ANOTHER TEST PASSED Andress' undefeated record has been built against a schedule that has demanded plenty from the Eagles. The season opened with a 44-34 victory over Las Cruces Centennial, followed by a wild 57-55 win over Americas. Andress then defeated Franklin 20-17 before Friday's comeback against Chapin. Through four games, the Eagles have scored 159 points, an average of nearly 40 points per contest. Senior quarterback Vincent Gonzales and junior quarterback Jamari Milton are among the Eagles' listed offensive leaders, while Aavant Clayton has been a significant two-way contributor. Andress entered Friday averaging 427 total yards per game, including 246.3 passing yards and 180.7 rushing yards. Chapin came in averaging 398 total yards per game. Those numbers made this matchup particularly intriguing — two productive offenses meeting with plenty at stake. CHAPIN'S FAST START, TOUGH FINISH For the Huskies, the 14-0 opening showed exactly what they were capable of when the offense was clicking. But sustaining that momentum against an unbeaten Andress squad proved to be the challenge. Chapin has now dropped three straight after opening the season with a victory, falling to 1-3. The Huskies won't have much time to dwell on Friday's loss. They'll return home next Friday to face El Dorado, while Andress hits the road to take on Burges. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. EAGLES STILL FLYING Four games into the season, Andress remains one of the Borderland's unbeaten teams. Friday's victory wasn't easy. It wasn't clean from the opening whistle. And it certainly wasn't predictable after Chapin jumped ahead 14-0. But that's what made the victory significant. Andress found a way. Down two touchdowns early, the Eagles answered with 38 unanswered points and walked away with a 38-21 comeback victory. The Eagles are now 4-0, and the next chapter begins Friday night at Burges.
