PREP1 SPORTS | October 24, 2026 | 📸 Photo Credit: Juan Fragoso @itz_.ju4n The Americas Trailblazers answered the call Thursday night, rolling past the Horizon Scorpions in a 59–14 District 1-5A Division I victory at the Socorro ISD Student Activities Complex II. After a heartbreaking 50–46 loss to El Dorado the previous week, Americas returned to the field with renewed energy and an explosive offensive performance. The Trailblazers put 59 points on the board, delivering the bounce-back victory they needed as district play continued. TRAILBLAZERS FIND THEIR RHYTHM Americas entered the matchup looking to turn the page after its high-scoring battle with El Dorado. Against Horizon, the Trailblazers found their way back into the win column and demonstrated the offensive potential that has made them a dangerous opponent. Senior standout Maurice Edwards has been a major part of the Americas offense this season. Entering the game, Edwards had established himself as a dynamic dual-threat weapon, contributing as both a runner and passer. His earlier performances included a six-touchdown effort against El Dorado, underscoring the scoring ability Americas can bring to the field. The Trailblazers’ 59-point output against Horizon provided another important boost as the team continued its push through district competition. A TOUGH NIGHT FOR THE SCORPIONS Horizon struggled to contain Americas’ attack, managing 14 points in the loss. The defeat extended the Scorpions’ losing streak to five games and left them searching for answers as the season moved deeper into district play. Despite the difficult result, Horizon running back Isaiah Aguilera delivered a notable individual performance, finishing with 158 rushing yards and two touchdowns, according to his published MaxPreps game statistics. MOMENTUM MATTERS The victory improved Americas to 3–5 overall and 2–1 in district play, keeping the Trailblazers in the district race. Horizon fell to 1–6 overall and 0–3 in district competition. Americas now turns its attention to a road matchup against Bel Air on October 30, while Horizon is scheduled to visit Parkland that evening. For the Trailblazers, the message was simple: respond, regroup and get back to winning. Thursday night’s performance did exactly that.
