Ysleta put together a 49-28 victory over the Mountain View Lobos on September 25, improving to 4-1 on the season and extending its home winning streak to nine games dating back to last season. The Indians came into the night looking to bounce back from a high-scoring loss to Hanks the previous week. They responded with an offensive performance that produced their largest margin of victory of the season. A HOMECOMING TO REMEMBER From the moment the teams took the field, the atmosphere at Hutchins Stadium felt different. It was Ysleta Homecoming, and the Indians gave their fans plenty to celebrate. Ysleta's 49 points marked the team's highest point total of the 2026 season, surpassing its previous wins over Big Spring, Burges and Fort Stockton. The Indians have now scored 189 points through five games, averaging nearly 38 points per contest. Mountain View refused to go quietly. The Lobos finished with 232 passing yards, including 176 receiving yards from Ruben Castro, who scored a touchdown. Quarterback Gerry Gandara completed 17 of 27 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns, while A. Garcia added 88 rushing yards and a touchdown. But every time Mountain View found an answer, Ysleta had another response. INDIANS KEEP THE MOMENTUM The victory was especially important for Ysleta coming off its 79-47 loss at Hanks on September 18. Rather than allowing that result to linger, the Indians returned home and delivered a convincing 21-point victory. The win also continued a remarkable stretch for the program. Ysleta has now won 14 of its last 16 games dating back to last season, according to MaxPreps. The Indians are also 4-1 for the second straight season, continuing to build momentum heading toward district play. And there was no better setting for the latest chapter than Homecoming. The Indians celebrated their fans, their school and their tradition — then put together four quarters of football to send everyone home happy. WHAT'S NEXT Ysleta now hits the road for another Friday night matchup, traveling to face Bowie on October 2 at 7 p.m. Mountain View will return home to face Austin, also on October 2. For the Indians, Homecoming was more than a celebration. It was another reminder that Ysleta football is building momentum at exactly the right time.
